BIOGRAPHIE/ biography - Katsura Funakoshi
1951 born in Morioka City, Iwate, Japan
1975 graduated from Tokyo Zokei University (Sculpture course)
1977 completed Master Course at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music
(Sculpture course)
1984 awarded the Oyama Prize for Excellence - Towards a City with Sculpture
1985 visiting Lecturer at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music
(Sculpture course, – 1986)
1986 stayed in London with a grant from the Agency for Cultural Affairs (- 1987)
1989 visiting lecturer at Tokyo Zokei University (sculpture course, - 2000)
1990 visiting lecturer at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music
(Sculpture course, - 1991)
1991 awarded the First Takashimaya Art Award from the Takashimaya
Cultural Foundation
1995 awarded 26th Nakahara Teijiro Prize for Excellence
1997 awarded 18th Hirakushi Denchu Prize
2000 visiting professor at Tokyo Zokei University (sculpture course)
